Undergraduate Education

In order to study in Fırat University Undergraduate programs, it is necessary to pass the exam conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) and not to be registered to another formal higher education program.

It is now understood that the field of Statistics is no longer just about collecting data, but is also a branch of science that is used extensively in other branches of science and plays an important role in the development of our country. Statistics provides the necessary information and methods to establish models about uncertain events, facts and processes, to test the validity of these models and to draw conclusions. The need for statistics has ensured that it is among the basic and applied sciences; and has made its development and teaching mandatory.

Our department was established in 1992. It has 9 academic staff. Our department actively continues its undergraduate, as well as master's and doctoral programs.

In our department, we try to provide our students with education at a level that will compete with other universities in the national and international arena by using all the opportunities of modern education.

Our department graduates receive the title of statistician and can find job opportunities in various fields of work. Statistics department graduates can generally work in public and private institutions. In particular, banks, public opinion polling companies, industrial organizations, data processing centers, and job institutions looking for package program users and computer programmers are looking for statisticians. They are employed in both the public and private sectors.
