Representatives of the education community and guidance counselors were invited to the meeting held in the Faculty of Science's Prof. Dr. Mihriban Alyamaç Külahçı Conference Hall. Innovations, particularly in the curriculum and software, were introduced during the introductory meeting.
At the meeting, which attracted a large turnout, our Dean, Prof. Dr. Hasan Bulut, stated the importance of the Statistics Department to them and noted that they stand by students and graduates in every aspect. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Pamukçu, a faculty member of the Department of Statistics, stated that statistics is a branch of science needed by all departments and that they aimed to better introduce the field of statistics with the meeting. Prof. Dr. Sinan Çalık, Department Head, provided information about the work done in the Department of Statistics, the publications and projects of the faculty members, and the academic and technological infrastructure of the department, noting that almost all graduates of the Department of Statistics can easily find jobs in high-income brackets. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurhan HALISDEMİR gave a presentation on the place and importance of statistics in Turkey and globally, as well as its job opportunities, telling attendees that statistics is the foundation of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gürcan, Deputy Head of the Statistics Department, stated that they have equipped the Statistics Department with a flexible, interdisciplinary curriculum, in line with current developments in universities, the business world, and the needs of industry. He stated that every student entering the department can chart their own career path and graduate with the appropriate skills and competencies.
